First time having lesson with Evan but he was 8 mins late to the class without apology . Moreover , he was eating breakfast at the couch watching Football game instead of watching my swing . It was totally unprofessional .

Evan is an awesome golf instructor and even better person. It was a challenge to find a consistent golf coach in New York City until I found Evan Cather and his team at The Hack Shack. Over the last two years my game has improved drastically due to Evan’s patient and attentive instruction. Evan has a keen sense that overwhelming a student with too many swing thoughts is counterproductive. Therefore we always focus on one part of the swing to improve upon and build up from there. I look forward to each lesson knowing Evan is willing and able to make me a better ball striker. It is also a pleasure to talk golf, sports and life during our session. The New York area is lucky to have someone like Evan who can take all levels of players from beginners to experts, and impress upon them his expertise and knowledge.

I came to Evan as a very high handicapper 30+, with an inconsistent swing, rarely making good contact with the ball. I took a one hour lesson every few weeks or so and would play a round or two in between. Over the course of 5 lessons I’ve gotten my handicap down 8, nearly 9 strokes. He has helped me improve my game drastically. He’s very clear with his instruction and has a deliberate process, correcting my setup, grip, swing path, and improving the consistency in all those aspects. More importantly, he’s helped me understand the golf swing and the feel of the golf swing so I can diagnose the successes and failures of each swing throughout a round. He’s a great coach with reasonable prices and Hack Shack is a great spot to hit balls even if you’re not taking lessons.

Evan is incredibly patient and a great instructor. I came in with zero knowledge and he instantly made me feel comfortable and gave great feedback allowing me to improve after just one lesson! I finally feel confident swinging a golf club thanks to Evan!
